The personal and heartfelt music of Facing Mountains was born out of a longing from Dutch composer and songwriter Xander Slikker. After treading on numerous musical journeys, he has found a way to combine his love for classical, alternative and electronic music and shape it into one identity.

What drives Facing Mountains is a firm belief in the power of melodic storytelling. The fluid style evokes introspective images with its strong influence of classical music and fine balance between acoustic and electronic sounds. Facing Mountains creates rich and colourful alternative pop music with cinematic elements. Inspiration is drawn from a variety of artists, such as Gotye, Radiohead and Nick Drake.

In 2021, after a year of isolation and devotion to working on new music, the first self-produced album 'Season's End' will be released. This is a first step into a longer musical journey, set to discover the expressive possibilities of story, melody and melancholy.
